Our History

The Village Development Council London (VDC) was formed in 1979 under the patronage of the High Commissioner for India Mr. Nanasaheb Gore. The driving spirit behind the organisation was Late Mr. Y. M. Bijwe, left us to lead the path he created. VDC is a registered charity and has a governing executive Committee of volunteer workers, which is presently led by a President, Jyotsna Kalbande.

Successive presidents and executive committee members have worked extremely hard to raise funds. We raise funds in a variety of ways including:

   Sponsored Walks
   Dinner Dances
   Barbecue Parties
   General Appeals

Funds are raised by VDC members and volunteers and have been deployed to finance village-based projects, which are thoroughly scrutinized by executive committee members. VDC is proud of the range of projects funded over the past 30 years, nevertheless, a lot more needs to be done. We therefore remain committed to raising funds and we are highly appreciative of donations to support this continuous and unending process.
